Injury has forced Adelaide into a squad change ahead of their Round 21 clash with Geelong, with tall Elliott Himmelberg pulled from the Crows' side that will travel to Victoria.

The club has confirmed that Himmelberg won't be part of the squad due to a fresh setback, with the type of injury to the Adelaide swingman not disclosed.

Recruit Chris Burgess will come into the 26-man squad, joining Brodie Smith and James Borlase in being on standby in Himmelberg's place.

Himmelberg was initially omitted from Matthew Nicks' side that fell to Hawthorn last Sunday, with defensive duo Josh Worrell and Nick Murray both returning from injury.

Captain Jordan Dawson and fellow midfielder Matt Crouch were the other two inclusions to face Geelong.

Borlase and Brayden Cook were also dropped from Nicks' side, while flanker Chayce Jones will miss Round 21 due to personal reasons.

With the SANFL scheduled for a league-wide bye this weekend, the Crows are likely to have all of their emergencies join the travelling squad to face the Cats.

Adelaide face Geelong at Kardinia Park at 4:35 pm local time on Saturday afternoon, with a win over the Cats able to take them into 14th on the ladder after St Kilda usurped their position last weekend.

The Crows will conclude their 2024 campaign with games against the Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide and Sydney.
