St Kilda have been forced into a change to their squad for Sunday's meeting with ladder leaders Sydney, with a foot injury sidelining defender Riley Bonner for Round 17.

The club confirmed the injury and alteration to their extended side for this weekend's bout at Marvel Stadium, with the change also seeing Mid-Season Draft acquisition Max Hall come into coach Ross Lyon's plans.

The setback for Bonner will see the backman miss his first game in the red, white and black since joining the club over the recent off-season, with the former Port Adelaide player becoming the fourth forced change for Lyon.

Trio Max King, Anthony Caminiti and Paddy Dow have all come out of the side that fell to the Power last Sunday due to injury, with Hall one of seven potential inclusions.

Duo Ben Paton and Ryan Byrnes firms as the leading players to fill the void left by Bonner's absence, while defender Dougal Howard, youngster Mattaes Phillipou, veteran Tim Membrey and onballer Zak Jones also joining Hall in being listed among the potential inclusions.

Tom Campbell, Hunter Clark, Darcy Wilson, Arie Schoenmaker and Dan Butler have all been named on the extended interchange.

Hall joined the Saints in May as the fourth overall selection of this year's Mid-Season Draft, with the 22-year-old recruited out of Box Hill.
