Nick Coffield's days at Moorabbin appear over after the injury-hit Saint requested a trade to his boyhood club, the Western Bulldogs, on Thursday.

Originally beginning his stay on Linton Street after being selected with pick 8 of the 2017 National Draft, the Northern Knights product showed glimpses of his line-breaking dash throughout his first 18 games across the course of the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

However, it was during the COVID-condensed 2020 season that Coffield hit his straps, making 18 appearances for the Moorabbin men, including the club's two finals appearances.

Yet, after 16 more games throughout the 2021 season, the 23-year-old has not been sighted at senior level since, with knee and calf complaints keeping the defender largely to the sideline.

While the Saints were said to have offered Coffield a one-year deal to remain on in red, white and black next season, reports from 7News' Mitch Cleary on Thursday evening claim that the rebounder is keen to cross the Westgate and link up with the Bulldogs.

At present, the Dogs are currently armed with picks 10, 17, 37, 64 and 67 at the 2023 AFL Draft in order to broker a deal for the Eltham junior.
