Sydney defender Jack Maibaum is set to miss the entire 2019 season after injuring his ACL.
The injury occurred during a training session last week and comes at a bad time for the 20-year-old, who is entering his third year with the club.
Sydney confirmed the news on Monday afternoon via the club website.
"Jack had been training really well over summer and was well primed for the season ahead, so clearly this is bitterly disappointing for Jack and for the team," Sydney head of football Charlie Gardiner toldย sydneyswans.com.au.
Maibaum was taken with pick 45 in the 2016 draft, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Swans with the likes of Allir Allir, Lewis Melican and Colin OโRiordan ahead of him in the pecking order.
He signed a one-year contract extension with the club last October.
