Demons defender Neville Jetta is set to undergo knee surgery, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin announced the news at a press conference on Friday morning.

"Neville Jetta won’t play again this year," Goodwin told reporters.

"He’ll go in for some more surgery on his knee, as he’s still getting some continually swelling."

It caps off what has been a frustrating campaign for the 29-year old after developing into one of the game's premier small defenders over the last few seasons.

Jetta was restricted to just seven games in 2019 due to injuries, averaging 10.7 disposals 2.7 marks and 2.1 rebound 50s per contest.
