Young Brisbane utility Brandon Starcevich has undergone surgery on a injured hamstring tendon and is set to miss the first eight weeks of the season.
Starcevich, who played the final four games of the season suffered the Injury in the opening quarter of the Lion's practice match against VFL team Casey just over a week ago.
The 19-year old had surgery on Tuesday and Brisbane's Football manager David Noble has thrown his support behind the West Australian.
''After some further investigation by our medical team the injury turned out to be worse than first thought, so we sent him down to Melbourne for surgery" Noble told the club website.
Starcevich Joins Western Bulldog recruit Marcus Adams (knee) and young key defender Jack Payne (shin) on the sidelines for the Lions.
