Injury prone Cats' forward Mitch Clark is finally back running again after his latest setback.

Clark has endured another tough pre-season, battling a calf injury since January.

The 28-year-old has not played a senior game since round nine last season due to a separate calf issue and has manged only 23 games in the past three seasons.

However, the Cats are taking a cautious approach and are not willing to put a time frame on a possible return.

"All indications are good at this point, but it's someone we're not going to rush," Geelong physiotherapist Mark Young said.

Meanwhile, matured-aged rookie Sam Menegola is recovering well from the PCL injury he suffered in the opening game of the NAB Challenge and has also resumed running.

"(There were) some concerns early on with the swelling he had, but the scans were reassuring, no structural damage," Young said.

"He began jogging this week and you'll see him soon."

However, new Geelong recruit Scott Selwood is still several weeks away from a return due to an ankle injury.
