Injury prone Sydney swingman Sam Reid is confident of stringing together a full season in 2017, after enjoying an injury-free preparation.
Reid, long touted as a future star, has battled several injuries through his 98-game career.
He managed only three NEAFL games in 2016, with Achilles, calf and hamstring problems ruining his season.
However, the 25-year-old says he is in career best shape after what has so far been an uninterrupted pre-season.
"I've been able to complete most of the pre-season so far, it's been a lot better than previous years," Reid told the club's website.
"2016 was very frustrating. I felt like I was two weeks away for about six months of the year – it gets old pretty quick.
"But being able to get through my first pre-season so far, touch wood injury-free, has been a positive and I'm looking to keep that going."
Reid said he expects to be full fit and ready to play in the Swans' opening game of the JLT Community Series on February 19 against North Melbourne.
“The amount of prehab and rehab work I’ve done in the build-up to this pre-season, the number of kilometres I was able to get in the off-season, has surpassed any previous seasons,” Reid said.
“That was the target – get to a stage at the end of the year so I was back to full training and, if the worse was to happen and we had a heap of injuries, I’d be available to play.
“We got to that point and I was able to have a normal off-season, complete all the running, and put myself in good stead for pre-season.
“I take a lot of confidence out of that and I hope that can hold me in good stead right up until the season starts.”
