Star Collingwood forward Bobby Hill may have injured himself during Collingwood's main training session on Thursday.

The 2023 Norm Smith medallist was seen limping from Olympic Park after a groundball contest.

Sliding in at pace to knock the ball forward during a match-like session, Hill collided with a teammate and remained on the ground clutching his left leg before struggling to get to his feet.

Teammates Brayden Maynard and Nick Daicos immediately came to his aid before trainers came to assist Hill's concerns. He hobbled from the field, favouring his right leg and seemingly struggled with any pressure on his left ankle.

With Monday's Kings Birthday clash still some days away, Collingwood won't be in panic mode yet, but a badly sprained ankle will force him out of the clash.

Coach Craig McRae believes he should still be available, saying he spoke to Hill just after the incident.

"He's fine, he just sort of tweaked his ankle a little bit."

"We've got four days before our game and there'll be no concern there."

In more positive news, Will Hoskin-Elliot will be available for selection after completing Thursday's main session, the club chose to take caution with their winger's hamstring last week.

"He was a chance to play last weekend... Will will be available," McRae said.

Talks of Jamie Elliot potentially being ruled out for the season with a vascular issue in his foot were shut down by coach McRae who provided a positive update on his veteran forward.

"That's probably a bit premature. There was some unknown time frame," he said.

"We got some really good news during the week that the treatment he's used has been working."

"He's on the mend... so hopefully six-to-eight weeks away."

Reef McIness trained well following his absence with concussion as injured key forward Brody Mihocek underwent fitness tests.

McIness took some good contested marks in game-like drills and will be considered strongly for a full-forward spot as Mihocek recovers and Ash Johnson faces the potential axe.

Coach Craig McRae was pleased with McIness' performance at training, but did not reveal a selection call as of yet.

He did, however, share his expectations of Melbourne for the upcoming clash, anticipating they will come out with a fierce endeavour to respond to last week's embarrassment.

"That's not Melbourne", McRae said about the Demon's 92-point loss to Fremantle on Sunday.

"I think what we saw last week was an outlier," he added.

With an already undermanned side that may be hit harder, Collingwood will hit the MCG with their backs against the wall, eager to right the fourth-quarter wrongs of last Friday's loss to the Bulldogs.
