A sour ending for the young Collingwood forward

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has revealed that father-son debutant Will Kelly is expected to have suffered a dislocated elbow in Friday night's win over Hawthorn at Giants Stadium, per SEN's Laurence Rosen.

Buckley remains hopeful that Kelly, son of Collingwood premiership player Craig, has avoided any fracture to his arm after falling to the ground late into the game.

Kelly joined the miraculous first-kick first-goal club in his debut for the Magpies, but ended his night in a sling and awaits results.

Buckley confirmed Kelly will fly with teammates to the club's next interstate hub in Perth, but will likely be sidelined for some time.

“It is bittersweet (for Kelly),” Buckley said.

“He looked like he was enjoying himself and he was a part of a solid team performance…I think the early diagnosis is a dislocated elbow and we don’t know if we can rule out a fracture at this point but it seems like he may have escaped that.

“We’ll get a scan on (Saturday) morning and then we plan to fly him over to Perth and get whatever assistance we need over there.”

Collingwood move up into fourth on the ladder following their victory over the Hawks and will face the Cats at Optus Stadium in front of a projected attendance of 30,000 next week.
