The Western Bulldogs are breathing a sigh of relief, with star Jake Stringer avoiding serious injury.
Stringerโs knee was twisted under a tackle from Brandon Ellis in the thirdย term of the Bulldogs' five-point win over Richmond on Saturday.
Scans have revealed he has suffered a medial ligament strain, meaning he will miss two to three weeks.
โJake was involved in a tackle where his knee got twisted and caught under himself,โ Bulldogsโ Head Physiotherapist Chris Bell said.
โThe mechanism of that tackle has caused Jake to damage the medial ligament in his knee.ย Weโll put a framework around Jake from a rehab sense.โ
Meanwhile, the news is not so good for Josh Dunkley, who will require surgery after dislocating his shoulder in the final term.
โIn the final stages of the game on the weekend Josh sustained a full shoulder dislocation,โ Bell said.
โWe were able to relocate the shoulder in the rooms immediately after the dislocation.
โWe found Josh has extensive damage to the shoulder joint. Without surgical reconstruction of the shoulder joint he would have recurrent dislocations.
โWeโve decided to operate on Joshโs shoulder, and weโre optimistic heโs going to return to playing before the end of the home and away season.โ
