Geelong have been linked to another promising Irish talent, with Gaelic player and Kerry youngster Cillian Burke reportedly close to a potential move to the AFL.

Reports in July suggested Burke had garnered interest from down under, with multiple AFL clubs keen on the Milltown-Castlemaine native while Kerry looked to stave off international advances.

The Cats have proven to be one of the more astute scouting clubs for Irish talent, having premiership player Mark O'Connor and emerging speedster Oisรญn Mullin on their list, while Zach Tuohy retired following 288 career games this year after starting his journey with Carlton.

Burke could be enticed by Geelong's success with Irish imports and might be most keen to link up with O'Connor and Mullin at Kardinia Park should he pursue a move to the AFL.

According to theย Irish Examiner, Burke is edging towards a move to the AFL following strong interest from the Cats and other clubs.

Burke is listed as a wing-forward prospect for Kerry and is seen as one of the GAA side's most promising players in 2024.

He may not be the only Irishman who finds an AFL list spot this off-season, with Derry's Eoin McEvoy and U20 international David Colbert testing at the AFL Draft Combine last week.

Colbert managed top 10 finishes in both the 20m sprint and the standing vertical jump tests as he flexed his athleticism against this year's top teenagers.

Clubs keen on Irish talent can add them to category B rookie list spots at any time of the year.
