Mason Cox could be the missing piece in Collingwood's premiership aspirations, according to SEN's Dwayne Russell.
On Friday, Kane Cornes questioned Cox's selection and said that it "threatens to disrupt the electric chemistry the Pies’ forwards had against the Saints last week”.
Russell, however, believes Cox's inclusion will free up the likes of Jordan De Goey and Jaidyn Stephenson and make Magpies forwards even more dangerous around the ground.
“I heard Kane Cornes earlier. I disagree with Kane about Mason Cox. He might actually be the guy that wins Collingwood the premiership this year,” Russell told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“I think they continue to pursue Mason Cox as that key position forward player this season Collingwood, because that’s the change-up Collingwood needs.
“They’ve got other great forwards, but if Mason Cox is there you might not have to play Jordan de Goey forward as much.
“If Mason Cox is there you might not have to rely on Jaidyn Stephenson as much.”
Cox kicked one goal and had eight possessions in last night's two-point loss to GWS.
