AFL MRO: Is Toby Greene in trouble for this “dumping” tackle?

“It fits the category of a player who’s in a helpless or defenceless position.”

GWS captain Toby Greene could face scrutiny from the MRO following a "dangerous" tackle on Gold Coast defender Mac Andrew.

During the third quarter of their Suns-Giants clash Greene is seen taking down Andrew, with the young Sun's head making contact with the ground.

Andrew remonstrated immediately by grabbing the Giants captain's jumper and slinging him to the ground, being penalised for a free kick against.

Fox Footy commentators Nick Dal Santo and Gerard Healy's reaction to the Greene tackle was that it should've been a free kick to Andrew and GWS might have something to answer for in the coming days.

"It's on behind play. It's Mac Andrew, who got dumped from the Toby Greene tackle and Mac's gone back at him," Dal Santo said.

"And has thrown Toby to the ground.

"It did look a little bit dangerous. That's not great (watching back on slow-mo)."

"This was a dangerous tackle. It should have been a free kick," Healy said.

Dal Santo added: "I think they'll (MRO) look at that one.

"It fits the category of a player who's in a helpless or defenceless position and whether there's enough force, whether he hit his head... but that didn't look great."

Andrew has continued to play the game.

MORE TO COME.
