Richmond superstar Dustin Martin has surprised teammates at Punt Road this weekend in making his return to training.
Martin took part in a light session at Tigerland on Saturday after stepping time away from football for the past month.
The three-time Norm Smith medallist has spent time interstate since being on his leave of absence, with no timeframe on his return set.
Richmond are yet to confirm whether Martin is making a full-time return, with the midfielder likely to be eased back into the season.
The 30-year-old's return to training wasn't known to his teammates, however it has buoyed their spirits ahead of Sunday night's clash with reigning premiers Melbourne.
"It was really good to see him. He looks healthy and we're excited that he's back here," Tigers forward Jack Riewoldt told Channel 7.
Martin played just the opening match of Richmond's season before taking time away from the game, with the club gaining the support of his club and the league.
The triple premiership Tiger is in his 13th season in the yellow and black, having played 261 games since making his debut in 2010.
