Delisted Kangaroo Trent Dumont is still confident of extending his AFL career into an eighth season after discussions with interstate clubs.
Speaking to SEN SA Breakfast, Dumont revealed that he was considering a move to South Australia to keep playing at the senior level, but admitted he had been talking to clubs interstate too.
“I’ve had chats with them (South Australian clubs) - Port more so than Adelaide,” he said.
“That sort of goes hot and cold as well. There’s been a few clubs over here, the two clubs in Adelaide and a few others.

“It’s all hot and cold, they don’t tell you every little bit of their planning, you get a call.”
The former North vice-captain, who played junior footy in South Australia, was a surprise delisting at the Kangaroos after the club's last-place finish. The 26-year-old played 113 games across seven seasons with the club, finishing fifth in North's best and fairest award in 2020.
Dumont's 2021 season was marred with injury, an ongoing calf concern limiting the midfielder to just 14 games during the year. Despite the injury, Dumont believes that he still has the potential to play his best footy at a new club.
As a delisted free agent, the 26-year-old remains hopeful that a club may pick him up after the draft and offer him a second chance.
"I still feel like my best footy is ahead of me" Dumont said.
“I even had a list manager call me up two days ago saying ‘I didn’t expect you to be in this position, our list is probably not ready to take you on, we wanted to take a taller player but I just wanted to give you a call and say I think a lot of clubs would be looking for you even after the draft’.”
If the former Roo should fail to find a new AFL club, he has expressed his interest at rejoining his former SANFL club.
"If I do go back and play SANFL it will be at Norwood" he said.
Dumont won a premiership with Norwood in 2013 prior to joining the Kangaroos through the National Draft, he was one of the best afield in the 40-point win.
