After a quiet start to the 2020 season and a split from his manager, questions are being asked about the value of out-of-contract Collingwood star Jordan De Goey.
Footy Classified panellist and former Port Adelaide star Kane Cornes said on the Channel Nine program that De Goey's numbers don't warrant a seven-figure salary.
“I just think he needs to be put under the spotlight a little bit,” Cornes said.
“He is not a million-dollar player. If he is asking for a million dollars you can’t be averaging 14 disposals, have two tackles and kick half a goal a game.
“He didn’t have a tackle again on Friday night, he touched it 10 times, he didn’t kick a goal – he is still inaccurate in front of goal, so he is unreliable there. He’s kicked 2.6 for the year.
“He needs to be working harder and if he’s not getting the ball, he needs to apply fierce defensive pressure.
“He needs a lift in form and the Pies need it badly.”
De Goey, 24, has previously rejected lucrative contracts from North Melbourne and St Kilda in 2018 to sign a two-year deal with the Magpies.
