Melbourne Demon and former Hawk Jordan Lewis has called time on his AFL career.
In one of the AFL's great careers, Lewis played 318 games including four premierships with Hawthorn in 2008, 2013, 2014 and 2015.
He was drafted by the Hawks at pick seven back in 2004.
Lewis' accolades include a Peter Crimmins medal in 2014 as well as an All-Australian jacket the same year, where he was named on the interchange.
He moved to Melbourne ahead of the 2017 season as a free agent where he went on to play 54 games.
The 33-year-old has only mustered the 11 games this season, with injury niggles hampering his year.
Lewis gathered his teammates and the football department together on Tuesday morning to reveal the news that season 2019 would be his last.
“I thought I’d address the group just briefly to one, show my appreciation, and two, just to put a full stop and let everyone know that I am retiring at the end of the year,” Lewis said in his farewell speech.
“The journey has been a good one – it’s been a long one.
“It’s been a lot longer than probably I would have imagined, and maybe people who drafted me would’ve imagined, and my parents would’ve imagined.
“But it’s been an unbelievable one.”
Lewis looks set to run out with his Melbourne teammates one last time as they take on North Melbourne at Blundstone Arena on Saturday.
