Lewis suggests discipline is not a problem for Melbourne

Jordan Lewis has defended Melbourne's recent disciplinary issues, denying claims of a culture problem at the club.

Appearing on Fox Footy's AFL 360 last night, his staunch defence comes after Tomas Bugg was handed a six week suspension for his hit on Callum Mills.

The hit on Mills has been the most notable incident in a string of indiscretions for Demons players this season.

Lewis, Jesse Hogan, Bernie Vince and Christian Salem have all been suspended this season for striking while Jay Kennedy-Harris, Ben Kennedy, Dean Kent and Jake Spencer were all deemed ineligible for last weekend's clash with Sydney for breaking the club's alcohol policy.

Lewis was critical of the media who he believes are playing up the Dees' recent record.

"[The media] dress it up nicely and they try and create a massive story about the club," Lewis told the show on Tuesday night.

But he admitted the club's growing rap sheet was becoming difficult to defend.

"It doesn't help when it keeps happening," Lewis added.

"They do add up.

"There's something else that we've addressed and we understand that we don't want anyone else to do again."

He said Melbourne's recent rise has meant the club is under far more scrutiny than in previous years.

"We all want to make a stance," he said.

"We know we've got the talent here. We need to make a few changes around our off-field stuff, then we'll get the benefits."
