Gold Coast superstar Gary Ablett will not face Brisbane in this weekend's match, after succumbing to a hamstring injury.
Suns interim coach Dean Solomon said Ablett was hopeful of playing this weekend, but has now injured his other hamstring, after battling with left hamstring injuries for the past two months.
“Gaz will miss this week, it’s his opposite side, its his right leg this time,” Solomon told the media on Thursday.
“The pathology has shown there is a little tear.
“He’ll miss this week, but I’ve just spoken to him then and he’s really keen to push hard for next week.
“His attitude has been amazing over the last 48 hours, had a good conversation with him yesterday."
Ablett has played every second match since round 13, and has only managed 14 appearances so far in 2017.
Solomon said Ablett had begun taking drills on Thursday, and Solomon will look for Ablett's guidance during Saturday's game.
“He was taking drills today, which is great from Gaz,” Solomon said.
“I want to really lean on him and his experience in around football to educate our players, this weekend at half time and after the game, both at NEAFL and AFL level.
“He has buy in, he wants to do that, he’s heavily invested in this footy club and I can’t be more impressed with the attitude he’s shown.”
