The Western Bulldogs have confirmed ruckman Jordan Roughead will miss around weeks following surgery on his hamstring.

Roughead landed awkwardly in a ruck contest during the first quarter of the JLT Series match against Melbourne and took no further part in the game.

It was initially he may have sustained a season ending knee injury, however, scans later cleared him of serious damage.

“Jordan sustained a hamstring tendon injury to the area the tendon inserts on the back of his knee, during a ruck contest on the weekend and has subsequently undergone surgery,” Physiotherapist Chris Bell told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“We expect he’ll resume full training in approximately eight weeks.”

The Bulldogs have the week off this week, before facing Brisbane and Gold Coast in weeks two and three of the JLT Community Series.
