Geelong will head to the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night to fight the one-match suspension that was handed to Gary Ablett.
Late in the first quarter of the Cats' win over Essendon on Sunday, Ablett hit Dylan Shiel with an elbow, with the Bomber receiving a free kick for his troubles.
Match Review Officier Michael Christian deemed the incident to be intentional with low impact.
"The first consideration is conduct," Christian told AFL.com.au.
"The guidelines talk about the fact that a raised forearm is usually consistent that a strike is intentional. You can see Gary jumping off the ground and making contact with his forearm.
"What we do need to establish is that there's head high contact and sufficient force in the hit to the head. That's what we were able to establish considering all of the evidence."
Ablett will challenge the ban in order to be available for the Cats' clash with North Melbourne this weekend.
