Adelaide midfielder Richard Douglas is set for a two month stint on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The 32-year old hurt his ankle during the Crows' loss to Hawthorn last Saturday which required surgery, effectively ruling Douglas out for a third of the season.

Crows media coordinator Steve Saunders confirmed that surgery was the best option.

“Examination demonstrated sufficient instability to warrant surgical stabilisation,” Saunders told the club website.

“Syndesmosis reconstruction and a wash out of the joint were completed to ensure best outcomes for Richard in the short and long term.”

Saunders also revealed that Tom Doedee underwent successful ACL surgery.

“Tom underwent a standard ACL reconstruction without complication and will now undertake early rehabilitation protocols,” he said.

“He is in good spirits and looking forward to assisting the boys in any way he can, and preparing for his 2020 pre-season.”
