Adelaide captain Taylor Walker has been ruled out of the Crows clash with Essendon this weekend.

Walker ended the match on the bench against Geelong last Friday night after sustaining an ankle injury in the final term.

The key forward failed to train on Thursday, but coach Don Pyke hopes he will miss only one match.

โ€œUnfortunately, Taylor is not going to be available this week โ€” that ankle pulled up a bit sorer than weโ€™d hope,โ€ Pyke said.

โ€œBut weโ€™re hoping itโ€™s only a one-week thing.

โ€œThe information Iโ€™m getting from the doctors is weโ€™re hopeful it is going to settle down โ€” and we expect it to be a week.

โ€œHe will probably start running later in the weekend to bring him up for next week.โ€
