Melbourne has added former Essendon forward Mitch Brown to their 2020 playing squad, signing him to a one-year rookie contract.

Brown will join the Demons during the AFL's Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) after he started training with the club on Tuesday.

โ€œWe are pleased to officially welcome Mitch to Melbourne through the SSP and have him join us as a rookie for this season,โ€ Melbourne's General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

โ€œMitch has shown great resilience throughout his career, and is a skilful, versatile player who has proven he is capable of having an impact at AFL level.

โ€œWe feel his experience at both ends of the ground and his elite endurance will make him a great addition to our list.

โ€œWe are confident Mitch will transition smoothly into our football program.โ€

Brown has played 70 games over the course of his career with Geelong and Essendon, featuring in 16 games for the Bombers in 2019.
