Melbourne forward Dean Kent has told the Demons he wants a trade, and has named his preferred destination as St Kilda.
The 24-year-old reportedly has a three-year deal on the table at the Saints according to The Age, and the club will let him move to St Kilda after he confirmed his intentions in his exit interview on Tuesday.
Since joining the Demons with pick 48 in the 2012 National Draft, the speedy half-forward has played 63 games, although only 11 of those have come in the past two seasons.
He played the final two games of the home-and-away season and looked to have cemented his spot in Melbourne's finals side, although a shoulder injury in their Round 23 clash with the Giants prematurely ended his season.
Kent's manager Ben Niall confirmed the trade request to The Age, and suggested he would play a different role at the Saints, and one that sees him spend more time in the midfield.
"Dean is grateful to Melbourne for the opportunity to play AFL football and the support they have offered him. He has nothing but respect for the club but he wants more opportunity to play in the midfield and more security for his new family," Niall said.
"Dean sees the Saints as a chance to play a bigger role in leadership on and off field as they rebuild the club and he is excited by the opportunity and cannot wait to get stuck into pre-season."
