St Kilda have placed forward Paddy McCartin on the long-term injury list, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2019 campaign.
McCartin suffered another concussion during a JLT Series game in the pre-season, and hasn't featured in another game since.
The move will allow the Saints to pick up a player in Monday night's mid-season draft.
St Kilda's General Manager of Football Simon Lethlean said the forward was still suffering from some concussion symptoms.
“Paddy’s symptoms are slowly improving but while they still linger, we are unable to put a time-frame on his return,” Lethlean told the club's website.
“Given he isn’t able to train at a high intensity at present, being able to complete the necessary training to return to playing matches before the end of the season now appears unlikely.
“Once that occurs we will be in a position to put a more accurate timeframe on his return to training this year and his program and plans for the 2019/20 pre-season.”
