North Melbourne have stood down forward Taylor Garner, meaning he will not be available for selection this weekend.

Garner was allegedly involved in a bar fight in Sydney last weekend, according to a report by The Herald Sun.

North Melbourne GM of Football Cameron Joyce said the 25-year old's actions go against the standards of the club.

โ€œWe simply will not tolerate anyone who compromises team standards and expectations,โ€ Joyce told the club website.

โ€œTaylor knows he made some poor choices on the weekend and we will continue to work with him to ensure he bounces back a better person.

โ€œAt this stage, he will play in the VFL this weekend.โ€

Joyce was unwilling to publicly comment on the specifics of the incident, which is still under police investigation.

โ€œThe clubโ€™s decision to penalise Taylor has been made independently of any police investigation or potential outcome,โ€ he said.

โ€œAfter speaking with Taylor yesterday, he unreservedly apologised and has fully accepted the clubโ€™s initial stance.โ€
