Western Bulldogs premiership defender Shane Biggs has called time on his AFL career.
The 27-year old informed his decision to the club today, a career that spanned across seven seasons, including a stint at the Swans.
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to play at the highest level for two great clubs,” Biggs told the cub website.
“I’ve made some great mates in the game and some incredible memories which will stick with me forever.
“It has been a great experience, but it’s time for me to explore other opportunities outside of footy and I’m excited about finding some new challenges.
“I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the journey, particularly my team-mates and my coaches, and to the fans for their support.”
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge lauded Biggs for his contributions to the club.
“Shane has been a valued member of our playing group for the last four seasons, and we are grateful for all the hard work he has put in during his time at the Club,” Beveridge told the club website.
“He can be proud that he leaves the game as a premiership player, and for the impact he has had on everyone at the football club.
“We wish Shane all the best for the next chapter in his life.”
Biggs played 63 AFL games, with his best season coming during the club's fabled 2016 premiership-winning campaign.
