Cousins will miss the Hawks' clash with Melbourne if he accepts the penalty.
Western Bulldogs midfielder Tom Liberatore ($2000), West Coast defender Tom Cole ($1000) and Adelaide Alex Keath ($1000) were also handed financial sanctions from the weekend's action.
The AFL Tribunal will also sit on Tuesday night, after Richmond forward Jack Riewoldt was handed a $1000 sanction for a 'chicken wing' tackle on Melbourne Bayley Fritsch.
