Power free-agent re-signs despite interest from Victoria

Port Adelaide defender Jasper Pittard will turn his back on interest from Victorian clubs and sign a three-year deal to stay in South Australia.

The 26-year-old was set to head into the off-season as an unrestricted free agent, but AFL.com.au have confirmed he will remain at the Power until at least the end of the 2020 season.

Essendon were reportedly at the front of the queue for Pittard among Victorian clubs, while North Melbourne reportedly tabled an offer to the defender earlier in the season.

After playing every game for the club in 2016, Pittard has only managed 15 so far this season due to injury, but has still had a big impact for the Power.

He's averaged 20.9 disposals, 4.9 marks and four rebound 50s per game over the course of the season, and is one of their better ball users coming outside of defence 50.

With the Power set to confirm Pittard's signing later in the week, it leaves Jackson Trengove as Port Adelaide's only remaining free agent.

The 26-year-old swingman is likely to stay at Alberton Oval, but his future has been a bit less secure lately, given he was dropped after their round 20 defeat at the hands of Adelaide.

Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs are reportedly interested in the Victorian, although given he is a restricted free agent, the Power are likely to match any offer thrown his way.
