Hawthorn have lost Cyril Rioli, Ben Stratton and James Frawley for an extended period of time after the trio all picked up injuries in the Hawks' win over Brisbane in Tasmania on Saturday.

Rioli will miss the most time out of the three, after suffering a serious PCL injury in the third quarter, while Stratton and Frawley will both miss at least the next month of football at best.

"Cyril hurt his knee in that contest and he's got a PCL injury, it's a fairly significant PCL injury and he could miss anywhere from 8-12 weeks unfortunately," Hawthorn Elite Performance Manager Andrew Russell told the club's website.

"Ben Stratton jarred his knee driving off into a contest and he's got some pretty significant bone bruising, so it's very unlikely he'll play before the bye, and it'll be a 4-6 week injury at this stage.

"He [James Frawley] has got turf toe, so those that have seen it in the past know it can take a while, and it could be up to eight weeks or more for the turf toe to settle down unfortunately."

Russell also said defender Grant Birchall is progressing well but is likely still 2-3 weeks away from returning, while Jaeger O'Meara is still some time away, having just moved onto running.
