North Melbourne duo Ben Jacobs and Mitchell Hibberd have both been ruled out for the remainder of the 2017 season.

Hibberd, 20, sustained a shoulder injury while playing against Port Adelaide on Saturday afternoon and will be sidelined for four to six months, the club confirmed on Monday afternoon.

โ€œMitch was involved in a marking contest in the first quarter and extended his arm over his head in an attempt to spoil the ball,โ€ North Melbourne doctor Peter Baquie told the club's website.

โ€œHis arm was awkwardly sandwiched between two players. Upon assessing his shoulder on the bench, we immediately ruled him out of action for the remainder of the game and knew the outcome after scans would be unfavourable.โ€
