Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern is now likely to stay at the Crows or move west to Fremantle after the West Coast Eagles reportedly pulled out of the race for the 22-year-old's services.
The Advertiser's chief football writer Michelangelo Rucci believes the Eagles have withdrawn their interest in McGovern, meaning the forward will now have just two teams to choose from.
While Fremantle's offer to McGovern is still the five-year, $750,000 deal that was reported earlier on this season, the Crows have recently upped their initial offer to the young gun.
With their original deal to McGovern reportedly worth under $400,000 for two years, talks between the two parties have intensified "substantially", but the new deal is still short of Fremantle's offer.
After joining the Crows with the 43rd pick in the 2014 National Draft, McGovern had to wait until 2016 to make his senior debut after his first season was plagued by injury.
His debut came in round one last season, and the forward has since played 34 games for the Crows, will 11 of those coming this year.
McGovern has kicked 49 goals in his career, and has averaged 4.6 marks and 10.6 disposals per game since entering the competition.
