Former Port Adelaide star Kane Cornes has named his current top five AFL players.

The Power games record expanded on his declaration earlier this week that Giants star Toby Greene is a top five player in the game, who has thrived since standing is as skipper for injured incumbent Stephen Coniglio.

The star forward is fresh off signing a two-year extension with the club, making him a Giant for life.

โ€œYou sort of casually speak about it and I said I reckon heโ€™s a top-five player in the game. It was put on social media and everyone loses their mind,โ€ Cornes said on SENโ€™s The Captainโ€™s Run.

โ€œThey agree or disagree, thatโ€™s the way it works. I think he genuinely is a top-five player. Iโ€™m not walking away from those comments."

Cornes went on to name his top five players as it stands, giving an honourable mention to Melbourne's Max Gawn.

4. Patrick Dangerfield

2021 season averages: 24 disposals, 4.5 clearances, 6.5 inside 50s

Currently injured with an ankle issue, Cornes gave props to Dangerfield for his stellar resume. Still one of the most electrifying match-winners in the game and as good anyone on his day.

Cornes said: โ€œAnd itโ€™s hard to do it when youโ€™ve got injured players. I think Dangerfield is a top-five player in the game, so Iโ€™ve put him in there. I know heโ€™s injured.

โ€œRecency bias, you lose it, but this time last year what Dangerfield was doing forward and in the midfield was top five."
