North Melbourne reportedly made a multi-million offer to Sydney young gun Isaac Heeney during the recent trade period.
The Roos offered Heeney over a million dollars a season according to Channel Seven's Tom Browne, with the club also a chance to pursue the 20-year-old star again at the end of next season when he comes out of contract.
However, the Roos had the offer knocked back by the Swans.
Heeney has already cemented himself as one of the best youngsters in the competition and promises to be a star of the future, playing 38 games in his first two seasons and winning the AFLCA Young Player of the Year in 2016.
He averaged 16 disposals, 4.7 marks and 3.8 tackles in 2016.
