Kangaroos midfielder Aaron Hall has taken indefinite leave from the club to focus on his mental health.
Recruited from Gold Coast last off-season, Hall was nearing a return from a knee injury that has hampered his first season at Arden Street.
North Melbourne general manager of football Cameron Joyce said the club had full support of Hall as he takes a step away from the game.
"Aaron has our full support as he works through some personal issues," Joyce told the club website.
"Aaron has indicated he needs to spend some time away from the club, to focus on his personal well-being and his family."
"The club and players will do everything to ensure Aaron is supported during this time, and knows he can take as much time as he needs."
The 28-year old has only managed six senior games for the Roos this season and was dropped to the VFL after the club's round six loss to Port Adelaide.
Hall has made no comment at this stage.
