North Melbourne have offered star midfielder Luke Davies-Uniacke a mammoth seven-year deal that would take the 25-year-old's time in blue and white stripes through to 2032.

Davies-Uniacke's contract situation will be one of the key player-market stories for the year, with the star yet to re-sign beyond this season.

It is understood that Davies-Uniacke loves playing at Arden Street but is waiting to see an improvement in on-field performances, with the Kangaroos' lengthy rebuild seeing just 15 wins in the last five years.

The lucrative deal, revealed by AFL.com.au's Callum Twomey, would make Davies-Uniacke just the seventh player to hold a contract for 2032 and beyond, in hopes the midfielder looks away from rival interest.

St Kilda are reportedly circling the former Pick 4, boasting a war chest that could entice Davies-Uniacke with a remunerative offer.

The out-of-contract Roo is a restricted free agent, however, meaning should Davies-Uniacke choose to sign with St Kilda or another rival club, the Kangaroos can match the deal and force a trade.

Recently appointed sole skipper of North Melbourne Jy Simpkin supported the club's view that Davies-Uniacke will place pen to the dotted line before the end of 2025 after the 25-year-old said in June that he was committed to remaining a Shinboner.

โ€œI'm very confident with LDU signing on," Simpkin said on SEN.

โ€œHe's got a massive future with us and we see him playing a massive role with us going forward, so I'm sure he'll sign on.โ€

The big-name talent held off on early extension talks in November though, citing improvement on the field needed to be seen.

โ€œLuke loves the North Melbourne footy club, especially his teammates. He wants nothing more than to see improvement in 2025, and winning games is a big part of that,โ€ his manager Robbie D'Orazio told The Age.

Last year Hugh McCluggage and Sam Taylor signed seven-year deals at their respective clubs, both of which extending beyond 2031.

27 players currently are contracted beyond 2030, with Fremantle youngster Hayden Young holding the longest deal in the league until 2033.
