North Melbourne Kangaroos star Luke Davies-Uniacke has commented on his future as he looks set to become one of the most in-demand free agents in 2025.

Gaining interest from several rival clubs, including St Kilda, Davies-Uniacke is one of the biggest off-contract stars next season and it is anticipated that the reigning Syd Barker Medal winner could fetch anywhere up to $1.5 million on his next contract.

This has made him one of the most sought-after players alongside Fremantle star Andrew Brayshaw,ย Western Bulldogsย captainย Marcus Bontempelli, Carlton big manย Tom De Koningย and West Coast forwardย Oscar Allen.

Still, in a sudden turn of events, he may have a deal signed and completed before the beginning of next year's campaign.

Following reports in November that Davies-Uniacke had postponed contract negotiations until the new year, the Kangaroos star confirmed that his management is working hard to cement a new deal and doesn't see himself leaving North Melbourne anytime soon.

"There's plenty of discussion in the background going on, and my manager and the club have been talking really healthy talks," Davies-Uniacke said.

"I know the fans are really curious as to why it's sort of taken so long but behind the scenes we're working hard to get it done...I do see myself wearing the Roos jumper for a long time."

Reaffirming his status as one of the game's elite midfielders in 2024, he polled 18 Brownlow votes and averaged 27.7 disposals per game as he showcased that he can dominate against not only weakened teams but also top-tier opponents.

Drafted with pick No. 4 in 2017, the Dandenong Stingrays product has become the cornerstone of the Kangaroos' rebuild. But with only 21 wins from 108 career games, the Rye native is eager for sustained team success.

However, North Melbourne's ample salary cap space puts it in a strong position to match any rival offer.

The Kangaroos have been proactive in addressing their weaknesses, bringing in veteran forwardย Jack Darlingย and versatile defenderย Caleb Danielย during the trade period.

They also made bold draft moves, trading future assets to secure additional picks and selecting key-position prospectย Matt Whitlock.
