North Melbourne star Luke Davies-Uniacke has spoken on his desire to remain with the Kangaroos beyond his current contract as rival clubs queue up for the star onballer.

Davies-Uniacke remains signed at Arden Street until the end of next year, with the expiry of his deal aligning with his first season for free agency eligibility.

St Kilda and Adelaide are among the clubs linked to the former top four draft selection, who could fetch lucrative figures in his next contract at either North Melbourne or elsewhere.

While the Kangaroos have a battle on their hands to retain the explosive ball-winner, Davies-Uniacke has stated he has "no doubt" an extension will be signed prior to the cessation of his current deal.

Speaking toย 7 News Melbourne,ย Davies-Uniacke said he's looking to repay the Roos after the faith they've shown him over the past six years.

"Going forward, where I see myself is playing for North Melbourne for sure," the 25-year-old said.

"When I think about North, it's always been a family club and the culture of the club has been awesome. They've shown faith in me, picking me up in the draft, and I'd love to repay that favour.

"I have no doubt the club and my manager can get something done by next year.

"There's been a fair bit of attention about [my situation]. It's something I stay away from because it wasn't too great to look at most days."

On the open market, Davies-Uniacke could be tabled offers north of $1 million per year for a decade-long deal, making him one of the highest-paid players in the game's history.

But with North Melbourne likely to be in a strong position with their salary cap, the Victorian club is set to be competitive against any offers looking to pry Davies-Uniacke away from the blue and white.

The Rye product is currently playing some of the best football of his 99-game career, averaging 28.29 disposals, 6.29 clearances and 12.71 contested possessions per game in 2024 thanks to a purple patch of form over the past month in particular.

Davies-Uniacke will bring up game 100 this weekend when North Melbourne host the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Saturday at 1:45pm (AEST).
