Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan and ruckman Max Gawn have been given the all-clear and will face Carlton on Sunday after the duo picked up little knocks during their round one win over St Kilda.

Both Hogan and Gawn have had limited training programs since last weekend's match, but with an eight-day break in between games it gave the star pairing enough time to recover.

"He rolled his ankle last week, so it was just a matter of staying off it for a few days. He won't do a hell of a lot today, but he'll do a bit on Saturday and he'll be right to go," Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin said about Hogan.

Gawn put in a strong showing against St Kilda but pulled up with a sore back following the contest.

"He'll do a bit more than Jesse today. Both are obviously pretty important players for us, but they'll both get the all clear and both be ready to play," he said.

Even though the pair will play on Sunday the Dees still need to make two changes, with Joel Smith (shoulder) and Bernie Vince (suspension) unavailable.

Midfielder Dom Tyson looks set to occupy one of those two vacancies after recovering from an off-season knee injury to star in recent VFL matches.

"He's had a pretty big preparation now. He's had three games back so he's looking better and better every week and I thought his second half on the weekend was really solid," Goodwin said.
