Brisbane Lions veterans Jack Gunston and Daniel Rich have learned their injury fates after separate incidents at the weekend, with the club officially revealing the results of their respective scans.

Gunston suffered an MCL strain during Brisbane's narrow victory over the Adelaide Crows at the Gabba on Saturday evening, while Rich succumbed to a hamstring ailment in the Lions' VFL outing, also on Saturday.

On Monday afternoon, via their weekly injury update, the Lions confirmed the pair would each miss the club's remaining regular-season matches, at least.

Gunston's injury was reported on Saturday evening, with the ex-Hawk expected to miss between four and six weeks. After confirming the results of his scans on Monday, the Lions will now determine the best course of action pertaining to a potential finals-time return for Gunston.

Forward Kai Lohmann, who has been in and out of coach Chris Fagan's side this season, shapes as Gunston's likely replacement in Brisbane's forward sector.

Meanwhile, Rich's scans confirmed the club's fears that he'd re-injured his hamstring, with the Lions revealing the rebounding defender will be sidelined for up to four weeks.

Brisbane's remaining pair of home and away fixtures come against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium in Round 23 and against St Kilda at the Gabba in Round 24.

The Lions currently sit in second position on the ladder, looking to lock up a home final at the Gabba in week one of the post-season.

Brisbane's blockbuster matchup with the Magpies is scheduled for this Friday night at 7:50 PM (AEST).
