Lion Jarrod Berry could gain scrutiny of the Match Review Officer following an incident involving Melbourne's Clayton Oliver in Friday night's match at the MCG.

Amidst a fiery war between the two sides, a battle broke out containing Berry and Oliver in the middle of the MCG halfway through the third term.

Wrestling on the ground with his opponent, Berry was caught placing his hand in Oliver's eye as the pair continued to grapple.

Should Berry have his actions viewed as an eye gouge by the MRO, the Lions midfielder could be forced to miss at least the next week of action.

Friday's win for the Lions means Berry could be unavailable for his side's preliminary final clash with Geelong, with Brisbane facing a nervous wait.

Lions coach Chris Fagan said he was unaware of the incident post-game.

GWS' Toby Greene was handed a one-game ban for a misconduct charge after it was viewed he made unnecessary contact to the eye region of Lion Lachie Neale in 2019.

The MRO is scheduled to release their findings from Friday's match on Saturday evening.
