The Brisbane Lions have confirmed that forward Kai Lohmann has avoided significant damage after being subbed out with an ankle injury during the first quarter of Saturday's clash against Sydney.
Lohmann, who kicked four goals in the Lions' grand final win last year, underwent scans on Monday which determined he did not require surgery for the ankle sprain.
The club has stated he is expected to miss 1-2 weeks and will go under further assessment in the coming days.
In positive news, veteran forward Charlie Cameron will return this weekend after being a late out for Brisbane's Round 1 match with calf tightness, giving the Lions some relief with a strengthened forward line.
Defender Brandon Starcevich has entered concussion protocols since Saturday's win over Sydney following a collision with Swan Justin McInerney.
Brisbane will unfurl their 2024 premiership flag this Sunday ahead of their first home game of the season against West Coast.
