The Brisbane Lions are keeping a close eye on Collingwood defender Jack Frost, according to AFL.com.au.

Frost, who is out of contract, did not play a senior game after Round 12 this season, despite consistent performances at VFL level.

He is one of several key defenders being looked at by the Lions, who are in desperate need of additional talls in the back half, after conceding a competition high 18.1 marks inside 50 per game in 2016.

Frost is currently involved with the VFL side in finals, but may well be open to the idea of a trade from the Magpies, with the 24-year-old not appearing to be in coach Nathan Buckley's plans.

The 195cm key position player has made 54 appearances for the Magpies since being recruited via the rookie draft in 2013.
