Brisbane star Harris Andrews has re-signed with the Lions a year prior to the expiry of his current contract, with the club's co-captain adding four extra years to his deal to remain with the Queensland side until the end of the 2029 season.
Andrews was due to enter free agency eligibility in 2025, having served the Lions since being drafted out of the club's Academy in 2014.
The two-time All-Australian and reigning Brisbane best and fairest winner, Andrews has played 210 games for Brisbane and has captained the club alongside Lachie Neale since the start of 2023.
A product of Aspley, the formidable key defender said he was excited for what the future holds in the Queensland capital.
โI'm so grateful and excited to commit to the club for another few years,โ Andrews said.
โI love the people, culture and supporters who all contribute to making my job the best in the world.
โThe Brisbane Lions have nurtured my journey as a person, player and leader for the past 10 years, and I couldn't be more appreciative to extend my time at the club.
โI'm extremely optimistic about this playing group and can't wait to continue to drive the club towards success.โ
Andrews has been selected in the All-Australian squad on six occasions, with his most recent coming this year after a stellar home and away season campaign that saw the Lions book another September spot.
Brisbane are one win away from securing their second grand final spot in as many years, with Andrews a chance to take his side a step further following last year's loss to Collingwood.
โHarris is everything you want in a person, player and leader, which is why we are extremely fortunate to have him at the Lions,โ Brisbane football boss Danny Daly said.
โIt's a real credit to him and the way his parents Wayne and Wendy have done such a great job in raising him into the person he is.
โHe joined our club as a young graduate from the Lions Academy and he is now the Co-Captain of the Brisbane Lions, which is pretty special.
โHe has worked extremely hard to become one of the best intercepting defenders in the competition and it's no fluke he has won our Most Professional Player Award four times.
โIt's an absolute pleasure to have Harris, his partner Emily and their families staying at the Brisbane Lions for at least another four years.โ
Andrews already sits equal ninth for games played at the Brisbane Lions, with his new deal in line to see him surpass the 300-game mark before its cessation.
