Brisbane superstar Lachie Neale is expected to spend an extended period of time on the sidelines after requiring surgery on an ankle injury.
The 2020 Brownlow medallist sustained the injury during the Lions' 18-point win over Carlton on Saturday.
The club confirmed on Sunday night that Neale would require further treatment on the injury and will undergo surgery.

Neale left the field of play in the opening term of the Lions' victory and eventually returned to the match to play out the rest of the game.
The 27-year-old ended the match with 24 disposals, five tackles and five clearances.
