Some debutants caught the eye over the weekend to give our Rookie Rankings some more names to consider in the home stretch, while a first-year Lion has returned to our standings after a strong few weeks of form.

His return comes at the cost of young Hawks tall Calsher Dear, who could only amass the one disposal before being subbed out of Sunday's win over West Coast.

Geelong first-gamer Lawson Humphries caught the eye with his run and ball use at half-back in his debut against Essendon, while Richmond Mid-Season Draft recruit Jacob Blight also earned an honourable mention for his efforts in his maiden performance.

Selection Criteria: For our Rookie Rankings, we are ONLY selecting players who have made their debut this season.

Other players who may still be eligible for a Rising Star nomination but have already made their debut before the 2024 season will not be considered. I.e. Rising Star eligible players such as George Wardlaw, Angus Sheldrick and Sam Darcy are ineligible, having already played an AFL match before Round 1, 2024.

Honourable Mentions:
Lawson Humphries (Geelong)
Jacob Blight (Richmond)
Will Graham (Gold Coast)

Bruce Reville (NEW)

Reville returns to our Rookie Rankings for the first time since Round 10 following his heroics in Friday's thriller against Melbourne, with the mature-aged recruit having his best game as a Lion for the year.

The Brisbane utility collected 18 disposals, eight score involvements, five marks and four tackles while moving the ball at 83% efficiency, stepping up in the final term as the Queenslanders claim a memorable come-from-behind victory.

The performance adds to a strong run of form for Reville over the past month to see him come back into our rankings at seventh overall.

The Lions have a nine-day break before returning to the Gabba to host Adelaide on Sunday.

Colby McKercher (-)

The Roos teenager had another week in the VFL and did his chances of a senior return no harm, collecting 26 disposals and booting two goals to look back to full fitness following recent foot troubles.

The promising performance came as the Roos suffered a 17-point loss to the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, with coach Alastair Clarkson potentially looking to the No.2 draft selection for Round 17.

The potential return could see McKercher quickly rise back up our rankings should he strike the same vein of form he found prior to his injury setback.

The Roos host the Gold Coast Suns at Marvel Stadium on Saturday for what shapes as a winnable contest for the last-placed North Melbourne.

Logan Morris (-1)

A quiet night for the Lions youngster on Friday, who - like the aforementioned Dear - managed just one disposal before being subbed out.

Morris struggled to get into the game against Melbourne and was eventually replaced by Jaspa Fletcher in the third term.

The fall in form, which coach Chris Fagan will hope is an anomaly, came after Morris' quick rise just several games into his career to see him sit fourth in our Rookie Rankings last week.

Morris remains a chance to hold his place in Fagan's side for this week's clash with Adelaide at home.

Sam Clohesy (+1)

The Suns wingman has continued to float between the third, fourth and fifth rungs in our rankings, and with another consistent performance and the lacking form of others, Clohesy moves back into the fourth spot.

Clohesy collected 13 disposals and went at 76% efficiency in Saturday's close win over Collingwood, at times going head-to-head with veteran Magpie Steele Sidebottom.

The mature-aged recruit's role under Damien Hardwick is now defined, with his run and ball work on the borderline of the engine room nicely complementing the Suns' inside stars.

The Suns head to Victoria this weekend to face North Melbourne as they search for their first away win of 2024.

Caleb Windsor (-)

The Demons teenager wasn't good against the Lions, but he wasn't bad either.

Windsor continued to offer some run and speed on the wing against Brisbane but struggled to capitalise on his opportunities when moving the ball forward.

He found the ball on 16 occasions and gained almost 400 metres on Friday night, but could only hit half of his targets.

The Demons head back to the MCG this weekend in a chance to bounce back against West Coast on Sunday.

Darcy Wilson (-)

Arguably the quietest game for the Saints rookie in his short career, with Wilson limited to just the seven disposals and two marks against the Power.

It was just the second time this year Wilson has gone under 10 touches in a game, with Wilson having just five effective disposals over the weekend.

Had Windsor managed a stronger Round 16 performance, then we would've likely seen Wilson fall back to third in our rankings.

The two young wingers are almost level heading into Round 17 when Wilson and the Saints host ladder leaders Sydney on Sunday.

Harley Reid (-)

The No1. draft pick made his return from his two-game suspension on Sunday against Hawthorn in what was a disappointing afternoon for the Perth powerhouse.

Reid looked back near his best however, collecting 21 disposals, five tackles, 14 contested possessions and over 320 metres gained.

Some cleaner kicking might've led to a bigger afternoon for the Tongala product, who missed two chances on goal and went at 52% disposal efficiency to amass an unwanted season-high of nine clangers for the day.

The Eagles and Reid return to Victoria this weekend to face Melbourne, with Adam Simpson's side hoping to replicate the performance that saw them claim the four points in the corresponding game against the Demons earlier this year.
