North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson has provided an update on Luke Davies-Uniacke, with the star midfielder reporting a sore left hip during Saturday night's loss to Sydney.

Davies-Uniacke left the field during the game with medical staff taking a look at his left hip, but following some painkillers returned to the field.

The out-of-contract star finished with 25 disposals, seven contested possessions and four score involvements in a disappointing Kangaroos performance against the Swans.

Clarkson admitted that Davies-Uniacke may have been a "little bit hampered" by the soreness during the game but commended his effort to see out the contest.

"He was able to finish the game. There's some bumps and bruises all the time in games of footy, it's a collision game," Clarkson said.

"We spoke to him throughout the course of the game, he was okay to continue. He might have been a little bit hampered by it.

"But that was a pretty good battle. He went head to head with (Isaac) Heeney at different stages, both of them were influential for their side."

In a starkly different showing to their previous fortnight of performances, where the Roos smashed Melbourne by 58 and stayed in the contest for three-and-a-half quarters against a rampant Adelaide, North Melbourne regressed significantly in their loss to the Swans.

A tough battle with Gold Coast is to come next week, with the Roos playing the undefeated Suns at Barossa Park in Gather Round.
