Coming into Round 19, Matthew Lloyd has revealed the teams he trusts to win the premiership in order on Sportsday Radio.
Despite the current ladder, Lloyd believes form and experience will play their part in the hunt for premiership glory.
Lloyd has the Tigers in the No.1 spot with five games to go in season 2019. He believes Richmond is in top spot "because it's all coming together at the right time", as well as their recent form and previous finals experience giving them an edge on the competition.
Four wins in excess of 27 points have seen the Tigers jump GWS and set up a mouth-watering clash with Collingwood on Friday night.
West Coast also remains a threat and hold the No.2 spot on Lloyd's list. The reigning premiers are right up there again in 2019 and Lloyd remains confident that in a few months time we could see them in the big dance again.
Lloyd spoke of how West Coast will likely play two home finals and despite "a little concern [over recent form]... they are scary at home".
The top two on the ladder sit in third and fourth with Geelong's "game buffer" still keeping them as one of the main threats to the premiership, whilst the rising Lions will face the pressure of September for the first time in over a decade (2009).
"Experience come the business end may hurt them but they're dynamic" Lloyd confessed about Brisbane's chances of bringing the flag up to QLD.
His former club Essendon is a surprise for the No. 5 spot citing form and X-factor as big things to look forward to in September for Bombers fans.
"There injuries are crippling them and 12th two months ago... but the speed that they have has got them to the top five," Lloyd said about his former club.
"Tippa has speed, Merret has X Factor speed and just about 5 or 6 players have speed, like Saad. It's not ideal getting scores off the backline and Bellchambers out though."
A few months ago the Pies and GWS would've been top three teams but Lloyd has them at sixth and seventh currently with a first-round exit a real possibility for one of the two sides.
Lloyd believes "depth is an issue" for the Pies as well as "ball movement" and having "no players in any real form."
GWS injuries with "Coniglio gone and Ward gone" have become a shadow of what they were as well as their form in Melbourne.
So of the current teams in the league, Lloyd has outlined his trust in seven and currently he has the Tigers taking home the 2019 Grand Final.
